Electromyography consists of
Nerve conduction studies and Needle EMG studies which help in assessing the peripheral nervous system. The conditions that are diagnosed include 

-Peripheral Neuropathy 
- Lumbar radiculopathy
                                        - Cervical radiculpathy
                                        - Myopathy
                                        - Myositis
                                        - Motor neuron disease
                                        - CIDP

Patients should wear loose clothing and avoid applying cream or lotion to the extremities for the test.
